About Me
Hello! I am Pamela Carey and this is me right now: Married to the best guy on the planet. Mommy to Hannah, the sweetest, prettiest girl ever. I’m blessed beyond words by them both. I’m a follower of Jesus, a loyal friend, good listener, and a perpetual loser-of-keys. I love my family, my friends, popcorn and chocolate (especially together), and all things photography.
I believe I was a photographer as soon as I knew what a camera was. There’s some evidence of it in my childhood family snapshots. As in, I’m not in most of them. And they were all taken from this really low camera angle. Like my sister reminds me, I was always the one “hogging the camera.” I think even as a kid, I just loved recording life and turning memories into something I could hold.
In 1999 I began to study photography as art. Guided by my mentor, Jamie Lonto I bought my first SLR, an old second hand Pentax K1000. I took that camera everywhere and photographed everything with it. Every thing. It was after I became a Mom that I made my photography all about people. The original childhood idea of recording memories came full circle with a new, life-meets-beautiful-imagery approach.
I love to photograph children, family life, and all sorts of celebrations. I want to capture all the amazing and ordinary moments we need to remember. Time rushes by. I want to grab the “right now.” Because next year our little kids will be taller, our big kids will go off to college, the special-day excitement will fade. I would love to create something beautiful and lasting with your “right now.”
